I'm currently accepting new clients for Deep Work Intensive sessions.

MONIQUE A. DAUPHIN, LMHC

Hi, thanks for visiting! My name is Monique, and I'm a licensed mental health counselor in New York's Hudson Valley providing virtual therapy to clients all over New York State. I specialize in helping people heal from trauma, overcome anxiety, and triumph over self-doubt. My clients include those recovering from sexual assault, narcissistic abuse survivors, Black & Brown folks,  queer people, and members of immigrant communities. I also enjoy treating highly sensitive people and those with ADHD and autism. I use many different approaches to support clients in their healing.

My practice is AI-free.

No AI listening in on your sessions. No AI notes in your medical record.

This is a human-only zone.

My Philosophy

My approach is particularly informed by feminist therapy, and I proudly bring my lived experience as a woman, a trauma survivor, and a first-generation Haitian-American to work with me every day.

I am anti-racist, trans/queer-affirming, and committed to fighting oppression in all aspects of my work. You can count on me to see you in a holistic manner—as an individual and as part of your family, community, culture, etc. I don't see mental health struggles as defects or moral failures. I see many of them as the result of living in a dominant culture that normalizes isolation, overwork, conformity, and avoidance.

I believe in:

  • using evidence-based treatment whenever possible

  • including psychiatry and other medical referrals in treatment planning as needed

  • treating you like the expert on your own life

  • being flexible and responsive to your needs

  • practicing body neutrality & fat acceptance

I don't believe in:

  • blaming complex trauma survivors for "attracting" abuse

  • telling my clients what to do

  • using platitudes like, "everything happens for a reason"

  • making assumptions about your religious beliefs or lack thereof

  • blaming mental health problems on your weight
